People’s Award 2019

The Jamaican Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (JamCham) would like to engage our business community in making the selections for the 2019 People Profile Awards. These awards are to be presented at our Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 20^th, 2019. We are involving the members of the community in the award nominations because you, best of all, know which companies and which individuals have been making outstanding contributions to our progress and success.

You are invited to participate in helping us select the individual and or company who best fits the descriptions proposed for each of the three categories below. Please carefully consider the category descriptions and respond with a ½ page description of your nominees and their accomplishments.

• Business Community Service Awards

The 2019 Business Community Service Awards recognize deserving member businesses for service to the community through support of not-for-profit organizations.

• Business of the Year

We recognize small businesses as the backbone of our community. We especially focus on courage, innovation, and leadership in service to the community. Any individual who owns and operates or who bears principal responsibility for operating a small business for a minimum of three (3) years may be nominated.

• Person of the Year

The Person of the Year Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership through his/her professional endeavors, community involvement, ethical sensitivity and social responsibility thereby supporting and advancing their community and respective fields.

All survey results collated and analyzed by our committee and the winners chose by a combination of qualitative and quantitative criteria. During the banquet the top 4 nominees in each category will be announced followed by the winner. (All JamCham board members and Committee members will be ineligible for awards)

Business Community Service Awards

Submit a nominee who has supported worthy causes in the community by making efforts financially and/or otherwise.

1. Company Name
2. Individual/ Proprietor Name
3. Organization, group, or network receiving the support from the nominee
4. Describe any efforts made by this business and the impact of the contribution made to the cause

Business of the Year

Submit a nominee who has been in business for at least 3 years; faced challenges, experienced breakthrough, and continues to maintain the courage and tenacity required to grow and develop.

1. Company Name
2. Individual/ Proprietor Name
3. Name at least two challenges faced by the business
4. Describe the attitude and innovative solutions the nominee utilized to remain sustainable
5. Briefly state the current status of the business

Person of the Year

Submit a nominee who has excelled in business or public service, displayed outstanding leadership qualities, and acts as a role model to the community.

1. Individual‘s name
2. Provide an example of how the nominee displayed leadership qualities while engaging in a community project
3. Give a recent/current example of how the individual showed sensitivity, as a leader in the community or workplace, when handling ethical dilemmas.
